Y'all point to low wages as a reason to discourage teens from blue-collar work; the answer isn't to discourage them, but to fight for better wages, no? Not everyone's gonna learn to code. It's disgusting to watch pseudo-libs poo-poo low wage work instead of acknowledging these jobs are, well, essential. How bout crowing about increasing wages more, and less discouragement to teens re blue-collar jobs?
When I was 14, my Dad informed me my allowance was about to be terminated cuz I was now old enough to get working papers. I was quite bummed- at first. Then I realized I made double my allowance working 16 hours on weekends. I worked at a busy car wash with characters you might expect: parolees, 'undesirables', druggies etc. It was a priceless life experience. When do we stop treating folks under 30 like toddlers. All the talk about useless college degrees; what the hell's wrong with a hs grad being a truck driver!? Travel the country meeting all types of folks, a noble profession. Wages & benefits need to be restored to where they would be if cost of living was imposed since the 70s. That goes without saying, in my opinion. If that were to happen, explain why 'teenagers' shouldn't drive big rigs.
